Digital Divas
"Digital Divas" is an annual all-girls coding competition hosted by different DFW area high schools each year. There are three divisions:
-
A Never-Competed-Before Division for girls with little-to-no programming experience,
-
A Novice Division for girls with general experience in computer science, and
-
An Advanced Division for girls with greater programming experience.
-
In 2019, there is also a non-competitive division for those who wish to attend workshop sessions to learn about coding.
Through Digital Divas, the organizer seeks to continue the tradition of introducing girls to computer science and promote the presence of women in the STEM workforce.
"Girls in STEM" has volunteered in both the 2018 and 2019 events. We started with helping on proctor the competitions and organizational tasks. This year, we are invited to host our won STEM booth with electronic circuit design and model bridge building activities for the contestants.
